Meet Our Raleigh Gynecologists
How We Began
Wake Women’s Health is a part of Wake Internal Medicine Consultants, Inc. (WIMC), a professional corporation that grew out of the Raleigh Internal Medicine doctors practice of Dr. Thomas Umphlet. Dr. Umphlet started his practice in 1938 in Raleigh, with a small medical office and onsite lab. The on-site lab was the only approved, non-state-owned serology lab in North Carolina. Eventually the office moved to a larger facility in 1947 as partners were added. From there we have continued to grow.
WIMC also offers Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Gastroenterology specialties.
